The members of the CI+ Forum formed as a group to rapidly bring to market a specification for enhancements to the Common Interface that will satisfy the most urgent market requirements for improvements to the existing CI Specification.
The CI+ Forum is pleased to advise that following completion of public review of the V0.8 CI+ Specification in January 2008, The CI+ Forum has published on May 26 the V1.00 of the CI+ Specification.
Whilst this is fully intended as a "final" release version of the CI+ Specification, the CI+ Forum reserves the right to make further modifications to the specification, if need arises, as is the norm for technical specifications of this nature.
It is the intention of the CI+ Forum that publication of the V1.00 CI+ Specification will enable all interested parties to prepare their implementations of CI+ technology in products, both receivers and modules, in preparation for the launch of the CI+ Trust Authority and the market implementation phase.
The primary objective of the CI+ Forum is to deliver an open specification that will act as a market enabler for secure delivery of Pay TV Services to a horizontal market for DTV Receivers. It is however the in the nature of security related work that there is sometimes a need to preserve elements of the specification from full public exposure. As a consequence, some parts of the CI+ Specification are deliberately excluded from public review and will only be made available to legitimate licensees of the CI+ Specification.
